Support

Painting

Acryl/oil/black marker
50 x 40 cm

Date

April 2025

This work captures a moment: a friend shows moral support to a friend by endeavouring to smoke his hand-rolled cigarette. With a smile, she says: ‘No matter how you roll the cigarette, I'll smoke it.’
With a little effort, she even manages a puff before the cigarette falls apart. What remains is a shared moment with hearty laughter.

‘Support’ reflects a subtle message. It is about support and solidarity between friends. The image captures the small gestures that we often don’t see in friendships. Sometimes support is not just a serious conversation or a helping hand, but also a shared laugh about the small challenges of everyday life. It shows that true support consists of being there - without conditions, without judgement, simply with love and lightness.

The work was created using oil and acrylic paints, with fine details emphasised with a black marker.
